Thurman Landing in Sonora, Kentucky sits on nine acres of scenic landscape in what seems like miles from nowhere, but in reality is only a mile from one of the busiest interstate in America. The venue is anchored by the two-story Victorian 1897 Thurman-Phillips Guest Home which offers five antique furnished rooms, each with its own bath. The Guest Home features a beautiful sun room and a comfortable historical library that invites visitors to relax, read a book or enjoy a quiet conversation.
Located next door, Claudia's Tea Room resides in an 1880 bungalow home. Fine dining here is the norm, and combined with a beautifully landscaped lawn and large gazebo it is the perfect spot for an outdoor wedding seating up to 200 guests.
Just a few steps away is our 1901 Lake House. Featuring four bedrooms, full kitchen, two baths and washer/dryer, a cozy sun room gives visitors a chance to enjoy a view of our small lake. A large deck and connecting patios add to family enjoyment on the outside.
Located next door is our Carriage House which serves as our wedding cottage. The upstairs offers a queen size bed and separate bath. In a separate living area is a queen sofa sleeper, bath. kitchen and washer/dryer. A balcony overlooks our lake that is stocked for fishing, as well as a cool dip on a warm day. Non-motorized water crafts are available.
The new 'crown jewel' at Thurman Landing is our 5200 square-foot Special Event Building that ties our nine acre park into everything else we have going on, Stone walking paths, fountains and a giant fire pit makes his an ideal location for events up to 275 people. Thurman Landing has hosted large weddings, private parties, political rallies, shrimp boils, barbecues, fish fries, arts & crafts festivals, live music and car shows. There's plenty of easy-in easy-out parking that is also conducive to motor coaches.
Sonora is a 'no-stoplight' town of some 500 residents. Located just off of I-65, it is 15 miles south of Elizabethtown, 10 miles west of Hodgenville, the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln, 50 miles south of Louisville, 50 miles north of Bowling Green, home of the Corvette Museum, 30 minutes away from Mammoth Cave or Fort Knox, 90 miles from Lexington and horse country or 70 miles from Bardstown and bourbon country, or 105 miles from Nashville, TN.
